Justin Lamb Presents: A Blog!

Annoying

April 18, 2008 · 1 Comment

I just read a pretty awesome article over at alphablogdesigns.com, specifically this one, which talks about all of the annoying things people do with their blogs.  Some of which I’m guilty of, and actively trying to change.

The one issue alpha brings up that I most fervently agree with is number 33: “[don't] Use the Snap Shots plugin”. If you don’t know what the SnapShots plugin is, it is the little window that pops up on WordPress blogs to show you the content of a link.  Unfortunately for those of us who use, and more importantly those who read, blogs on WordPress.com; SnapShots is turned on by default. I’m actually a little embarrassed to admit that I just turned it off prior to writing this. (for future reverence it is located in the “extras” portion of the “design” menu.)

The reason SnapShots is such an annoying faux pas of blogging is: it really has no practical use.  It, more often than not, just gets in the way of what we are trying to read or click.  So, I write this post just to remind all of my fellow WordPress users to please turn it off.
