Creative Commons

You might have noticed by now that there is a little widget on the side of the page proclaiming that this blog is licensed by Creative Commons. If you aren’t familiar, Creative Commons is an alternative to standard copyright. I’m not going to go into the specifics of what it does, if you want to learn more about Creative Commons I encourage you to go to their official website: CreativeCommons.org or check out the Wikipedia page.
Under the particular license I am using, you are free to share the content you find on my blog as long as you: give attribution, do not use it for commercial purposes, and do not use it for the basis of derivative works. The complete information can be found by checking out the license on the side of the page. I should also say that I hold the license for only the blog content on the site, the theme as well as technical aspects etc. are subject to the rights of their respective creators, which is not me.
To sum this all up I want to make it clear that I have obtained this license not to discourage sharing of content, but rather to encourage it. I believe that the standard American Copyright is too restrictive and not conducive to the sharing of ideas, to this end Creative Commons offers a great alternative. I am more than willing to discuss any specifics, regarding specific uses of the content of this blog in ways that are either not covered or are contrary to the wording of the license.
